Our Story

Meet the Winemakers
About Us
We’re James and Pearce Stickney—brothers, sommeliers, and founders of Madrona Bay. Our shared obsession with wine runs deep, and we like to think we each bring something unique to what ends up in your glass.
Some might say we entered the wine world backwards: James studied microbiology and statistics at the University of Washington, while Pearce gained leadership experience managing Starbucks stores across Washington. Together, we earned our Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Diplomas in 2019 and have been immersed in the Washington wine industry ever since.
Our Philosophy
Madrona Bay and Raidho wines reflect both the tension and balance between art and science, shaped by our relentless pursuit of excellence.
To us, wine is many things: a beverage, an academic pursuit, a creative act. It’s also humbling, invigorating work—a way to translate sunlight, soil, and weather into something worth sharing.
Thanks for joining us on the journey.

Our Wines
We specialize in red wines from some of Washington’s most expressive vineyard sites that bring our wines character, balance, and a true sense of place. These places aren’t just scenic. Through soil, sun, and elevation, they tell stories we try to honor, not overwrite. We believe in honest winemaking that lets the fruit — and the land — lead.
